CRTC on Bells Network

Its congested.

The Commission considers that, in the circumstances of this proceeding, Bell Canada has established that the use of P2P file-sharing applications by the end-users of GAS customers during peak periods would contribute to the network congestion that exists in Bell Canada’s network. Accordingly, in the circumstances of this proceeding, Bell Canada has established that some measures are required to prevent its customers from using, or permitting to be used, P2P file-sharing applications so as to prevent fair and proportionate use by others of its network.

Bell just released some data to meet the CRTC request for information following their recent bump into network neutrality.  You’ll hear numbers been thrown about by people who have never run a network… truth being Bell’s network is Very congested.

Its not that their network is 95% free of congestion… which is what you’ll hear.
