Peekvid Down – another launch?

Looks as though Peekvid is being relaunched – again. It’s down at this moment with an email signup for when the service is relaunched.
This is the second relaunch since I first wrote about them back in May.
Maybe DailyMotion – the guys in France who hosted all those videos received a warning and in turn smacked Peekvid off their service. But there’s nothing on their blog to indicate that.
Or maybe they’re rewriting the scripts that re-uploaded the videos, or maybe they’ll be back up in 5 days, or maybe they just got tired of doing it….. anyone have any info?
I just noticed today, I have no idea what’s going on.
any chance their site was hijacked and entering email addresses just gives the culprits an idea of who was exploiting the free-vid thing?

Neh… I guess it will be back up shorty, its maybe a matter of a few days. I believe they are upgrading the page. Some additional options would be great, like having the poster next to the title, or a link to imdb. Maybe comments or “digg” like feature. I don’t know, the whole idea behind the web page sound very promising. If they don’t do it somebody else will.

Flick Peek looks like a total copy of Peek Vid just bigger player . One problem it does not seem to be working,,, at all, I can’t get anything to download. I have DSL pro too.

Don’t get too paranoid but also don’t get too cozy on a site with as much illegal shit as peekvid.

how could the feds take over the server when its a dutch site, feds have no legal authority to touch the server if its not based in the us

If they did log your email address and you had watched say 30 episodes of family guy.. what can they charge you with? its on tv.. tv is free.. the movies may be a different problem.. but really… i put my email address in there. fuck that. how do they know i watched anything? i could jsut say i heard baotu it and signed up and nothing happened.

Could tell something was going on when all the players switched to some crap that didnt work. It really was the best site on the net, hope it gets relaunched by the same people with fixes.
Probably just Youtube and dailymotion blocking the links to peekvid.
I don’t think they can do anything legaly to visitors to the site.
First off, they are all streams, which means that you are not downloading the movies. Second, there is nothing illegal about watching pirated movies. It’s only illegal to copy with intent to distribute.
To add to my previous note:
If they were shut down, and the email form is some law enforcement phishing thing, it is most likely to gather evidence against Peekvid about viewership.
Thirdly, Peekvid doesn’t even host the videos. They only host links to other streaming sites like YouTube. So I doubt that they are down for any legal reason much less by some law enforcement agency.

There is a site I found that just went up and is under development…. its http://www.joltvideo.com they have a bunch of movies, and also alot of south park, still in its early stages though! check it out…
All of the people freaking out about entering there email address on peekvid are idiots. Peekvid IS actually in beta testing. I ‘ve been on the site in its beta version…it’s different but all the videos are still there. So just take a second to calm down before you delete your email account.
So if they are renewing or something does anybody have an idea how long it will take cause i cant wait to get my movies back.
